Society to explore new vessel options

As a result of a pilot project that took place over the summer months in the River for Delta´s Emergency Services, certain equipment changes will be made to further enhance the capability to serve community needs more fully.

A focus group from the board and crew has been studying equipment options over several months since the pilot, that will take into consideration defined, customized vessels that are matched to the specific needs of community emergency and utility services and to supply efficient vessel platforms, trained and certified volunteer crew, and maintenance on a 24/7 basis.

It was approved by the society´s board at Tuesday nights (05 Jan 2010) regular board meeting, to explore the possibility of offering the present vessel for sale on the international market for high speed all weather response vessels.  The proceeds from any potential sale will be reinvested in vessels that are directly suited to our Fraser River - Ladner harbour base and our Georgia Straits station.

The society board and members thank the residents of Delta for their wonderful support of this worthy volunteer cause, saving lives and property on the water.  Our society now has more than 130 members from the community and is active both on the water and in community service projects.

The vessel is currently listed at the following brokerage site:Wright-International
