The Roberts Bank Lifeboat Station - Delta Society is a recognized all volunteer, non-profit, provincially registered charitable marine Search and Rescue organization operating from the Roberts Bank Superport (aka Deltaport) and Ladner Harbour.

RBLB provides life-saving and other marine services that are required in these highly traveled waters with Vancouver Island ferries, deep sea ships, tugs, pleasure craft, fishing boats and hundreds of small aeroplanes, helicopters and commercial aircraft flying over the strait on a daily basis. Our crew of trained volunteers work hard to provide the community of Delta with the best possible boating safety and search & rescue service.

Bottle Returns

Your bottle returns really benefit our society. If you live in the lower mainland of BC you can take your cans, bottles and juice containers to the following Return It Centres:

  • Tsawwassen Encorp Return It Centre located at 5636 12th Ave (beside the Petro Canada Station on 12th Ave) and have the proceeds go to #13 Roberts Bank Lifeboat and we get a cheque for the returns.
  • Ladner Encorp Return It Centre located at 4930 Elliot St, get the money for your return, put it in an envelope available at the counter, mark #201 Roberts Bank Lifeboat on it and place in the blue safe box on the wall, we later get a cheque for the returns. The staff at the centre will show you how to complete the procedure.

Community Relations

Our society participates in many events throughout Delta. Over the past few years we have been involved with:
  • Pancake Breakfast with Santa for Ladner Business Association
  • Carol Ships
  • Communications Festival
  • Tsawwassen Sun Fest
  • Delta Emergency Preparedness Weeks
  • Delta Public Works Open House
  • Remembrance Day Services
  • Commemoration of George Massey Tunnel
  • River Mania
  • Emergency Communications Exercises
  • Ladner Harbour Cleanup
  • Boating safety and education events
  • Boating Safety Checks through certified courtesy inspections
  • And many others...

Our volunteers donate countless hours of their time to train and actively participate as a significant part of the front-line response to marine distress in Canada. They must also volunteer even more of their time to actively raise the funds necessary to keep us afloat - and that's no small order. As we are not funded, the society relies on donations to help run the vessel. This includes operational costs, equipment, fuel, training, vessel maintenance, insurance, licencing (eg radio), ship's phone and many other items necessary to keep the vessel ready and able to operate on short notice as a dedicated response vessel.

We realize these are challenging financial times, but rest assured your donation does make a difference. Help us help you...our objectives still remain the same:
  1. Save lives
  2. The safety of those on and around the water
  3. The security of our community
  4. Provide support to the Canadian Coast Guard and local police and fire agencies
  5. Maintain professional standards
  6. To provide a multi mission capable vessel or vessels and trained crews

If you have any questions or wish to make a donation, please contact the society via the "Contact Us" link under the "About RBLB" tab, or direct via the email address below. Donations may also be made by clicking on the Canada Helps logo to the left of your screen.
